Dr. Berti’s practice often takes him around the world to treat his patients. This January, Dr. Berti was part of a large team of neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatric cardiologists, and neonatologists who successfully operated on conjoined parasitic twins in Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, The Bahamas. The parasitic twin was joined to her sister at the hips and spine.

The marathon surgery, which took 8.5 hours, had less than a 40% chance of success. Without it, the little girl would have died. Neurosurgeon Dr. Magnus Ekedede led the team in The Bahamas.
